Later August 1961
It was Molly's last day in New York and like the last few days she would be spending it with Davy. Davy and Molly had walked to the park. Davy was trying to decide to give her the present he had gotten her.
Meanwhile at her aunt's, her aunt and uncle were talking.
Will asked, "Where's Molly?"
"She's with Davy," Heather answered.
"Since she's been here she's spent more time with Davy and she came to visit us. Besides she's got to pack because tomorrow she's leaving," Will said.
"She'll probably just use magic to pack. At least it will get done. Ah, but with Davy and Molly its young love and probably true love. Do you remember what it was like to be young and in love?" Heather asked.
"I still do," Will said and the kissed his wife.
"Mom, Dad do you have to do that while were around?" Josh asked as a joke.
"Yes Josh we do," both of them said with a laugh.
Molly and Davy,/b>
Still walking in the park, they were talking, laughing, and kissing.
Davy said, "I can't believe this will be the last day I see you."
Between kisses Molly said, "I know I can't believe it either."
This is the perfect time to tell him she thought.
"Molly I have something to give you," he said.
Taking a box out of his coat pocket and handed it to Molly. She stared at the box anticipating to open it.
Davy said, "Go on. Open it."
Molly opened the box. Inside the box was a necklace. It had an opal heart-shaped gem inserted into a gold-plated base. She was totally speechless at what she saw.
"Happy Birthday, Molly!" Davy said, "I know it's early, but you won't be here then."
"Thank you, but the money you used to pay for this you should have sent to your dad," Molly said.
"Actually I had been saving some money and it was Dad's idea," Davy said.
"It was his idea to get this."
"No, to the money I was going to send him. He knew I wanted to get you something and he told me to use the money I usually send him," Davy said, "Plus the guys helped pay for it."
"Oh, I don't know what to say except thank you again."
"Besides it's not just a birthday gift. It's also to tell other guys you have a boyfriend when you where it."
She took it out of the box and put it on.
"Oh, really. You want to ward off anyone who'll think they'll be a potential boyfriend, do ya? You're so sweet. Then I'll wear it all the time."
"Yep. I'll also send you a card for your birthday."
"Can't wait. You know people are looking at us weirdly."
"It's only because you're taller than me."
"And you have a baby face."
"Which does make me look younger than you."
"Who cares? I have something to tell you."
"Well what?"
"I, I," she began to say.
Say it, Molly she said to herself, say I'm half alien, I'm half artisien, I'm not entirely of this world, I'm half-human. Say something like that.
But what she said, "I love you,"
"I know."
"You know what?"
"That you love me."
"And?"
"I love you, too."
They walked towards her aunt's house. As the approached her aunt's house they kissed for the night. She walked into the house and went to her room. She finished packing just the way everyone thought she would. She told them about the necklace Davy got her. She went to bed. She woke up the next morning, got ready for the day and was driven to the airport. When she boarded the plane, she started to read the Lord of the Rings, but every once in while she would think of Davy in those two hours on the plane. When the plane landed in Florida, she walked to her parents who were waiting for her. Her older brother David was with them.
David picked her up, twirled her around, and asked, "Hi. Who's the guy?"
She answered, "Hey, David. He's name's Davy."
She didn't even want to mention his last name at the moment. She answered all their questions about Davy. Bragged about the necklace he got her for her birthday. They went to the local 1-hour photo and developed the pictures she had taken. When they picked them up, they had to look at them right away.
They couldn't contain their laughter when they seen the pictures how short Davy was to Molly. They went home to let Molly unpack, while her mom fixed dinner. She called Davy when she was done unpacking. She separated the pictures she was going to send to Davy from the ones she was going to keep. She ate her supper with it was done. She zapped herself to the Cline's to shoe Leigh the pictures. Then she went home and went to bed.
