The Road To Love

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next afternoon at 4:30 p.m., Molly started to think about the day before when she went to the park to play basketball. When she was playing by herself she was surprised she made any shots that made it in the hoop at all. The some guy came by the park and asked to play a game. The condition was whoever got 10 points first wins. She was surprised that she won the game even though the other player was human. Mainly because her mind was on Davy. The she thought of the conversation afterwards.

"You're a great player for a girl," said the other player.

"Thanks, I guess. I guess being a girl makes me fragile and wimpy," said Molly.

"Well, No. But I've never seen any other girl play as well and tough as you," said the other player.

"Well, how many of those girls you know are tomboys and played b-ball and football with their brothers and guy friends," said Molly.

"That's true. You must be tough if you played with guys as kid and now," the other player said.

"Well, I gotta go. Thanks for a great game," Molly said.

"No problem." said the guy, "Hope to see you around."

Then Molly walked back to her aunts.

"Earth to Molly," Jennifer said.

"What," Molly said.

"Where are you Molly? It's five. Are you going to get ready for your date?" Jennifer said.

"It's five already. Yeah. Thanks. I must have been somewhere else," Molly said.

She went to her room to get ready for her date. She zapped on a blue mini dress with matching shoes to go with it. She also zapped on coordinating makeup lightly. The she walked out of the room to see what everybody will think.

"So whaddya think. I clean up nice don't I?" Molly said.

"Wow, Molly. You look great," Aunt Heather said.

"Molly, you're wearing a dress," Josh said with a laugh.

"Shut up, Josh," Molly said giving him 'bite me' look.

"I thought you said the main time anyone is going to see you in a dress is at you wedding. Maybe at church or a friends wedding as a guest or bridesmaid," Josh said.

"Well, I can change my min can't I?" Molly asked.

"Of course you can. Besides it's a first date. You want to make a first impression," Aunt Heather said.

"Thanks Aunt Heather. I have a question. Should I have my hair up or down?

"Down," everybody said.

"Straight or curly?"

"Natural"

"A little curly then from having long hair. Thanks. I'll just put a head band on."

She zapped a cloth headband on that was so long it was past her hair once it was tied underneath her hair at the base of her neck. She had the band separate her long bangs from the rest of her hair to dangle in her face.

"That's great. It just added the right touch," Jen said.

"I know. Just because I'mma tomboy and prefer to wear jeans and a t-shirt doesn't mean I don't know how to turn into a girly girl," Molly said.

"That's true," Jen said.

Then Molly started pacing around because she was so nervous.

"Hey Molly it will be okay, but if you don't stop you will destroy your look," Jen said.

"I know but I'm so nervous. Besides if that does happen I would just use my magic to fix it," Molly said.

"Stop fidgeting he should be here soon. It's a quarter 'til six," Aunt Heather said.

Davy arrived five minutes early. He knocked on the door and Molly's uncle will answered the door.

Davy said, " 'Ello, I'm 'ere to see Molly."

"Hi, Davy. It's nice to meet you. I'm Molly's uncle Will Jacobson. Come in," Will said.

He took out his hand to shake hands with Davy and Davy shook his hand. Davy walked in and seen how beautiful Molly looked. Molly walked to him and said, "Hi, Davy."

"Hi, Molly. You look…Wow," Davy said.

She thought he looked great wearing a pair of black pants and a white sweater.

"Thanks. Everyone this is Davy Jones," Molly said as she lead Davy to where everyone was in the living room, "Davy this is my Aunt Heather."

"Hi we spoke on the phone," Heather said as they shook hands.

"These are the twins: Josh and Jen," Molly said.

Davy said hello and shook their hands.

"And you already met Uncle Will."

"Man, you're really ow!" Jen said as Molly kicked her.

Molly know exactly what Jen was going say he was short.

Will was thinking, "He is short but he's with Molly. So maybe he just hasn't had a growth spurt in height yet. It's going to be funny in a couple years whether or not he has or not gotten taller. When Molly adds a few more inches or so and will be a lot taller then him. It will be inevitable that she will get taller, because of her dad plus she's already 5'6". It will be a sight to see if they are together still or at least friends in the future."

"Well, are you ready to go? I'd like to stay and talk, but I'd like to go. I don't mean to be rude," Davy said.

"No, don't worry. You kids go out and have fun, all right," Heather said.

"Goodbye, everyone," Molly said, "See you later."

"I'll bring her back don't worry," Davy said.

When they were out walking to get to wherever they were going Molly asked, "Where are we going?"

"You'll see. It's a surprise."

"That's great I love surprises."

The arrived at a restaurant. Davy and Molly walked in. Davy told the waiter that two would be dining. They waited to be seated. Davy couldn't stop staring at Molly and into her blue eyes. Molly knew he was staring at her and after a while she asked, "What is there something wrong?"

"No," Davy said.

Then the waiter escorted them to an empty table. Set a couple menus down.

The waiter asked, "Would you like anything to drink?"

"Coca-Cola, please," Molly said.

"The same as well," Davy said.

After they got their drinks, they ordered their meals.

"I would like the turkey dinner," Molly said.

"I would like the steak dinner," Davy said.

As they waited for their food to be brought to them, They talked.

"How did you get here in America? I mean what made you decide to be an actor?" Molly asked.

"I started in school and church. Me Mum was involved in a lot of the activities. Then she died I lost interest in school and decided to become a jockey. I was an apprentice for a short time and was acting then as well. Then I auditioned for The Dodger in West End which eventually came here," Davy said.

"That's interesting. When did your mom die?"

"About a year ago," Davy said sadly.

"I'm sorry. I don't know what it's like to lose a parent, but I can imagine," Molly said taking her hand and putting it on his.

"Thank you."

"Did you like school when you went?"

"Not really."

"That's a shame. I love school."

"Well it's not for everyone."

"Tell me about your family. Do you have any siblings?"

"Yes, I have three older sisters. Their names are Lynda, Beryl, and Hazel. I'm the youngest. My dad's name is Harry and my mum name is Doris."

"Your sisters have pretty names. I don't have any older sisters myself. I am the older sister. I have an older brother, a younger sister, and two younger brothers. My older brother's name is David after my dad. Don't worry if you ever meet them it won't be confusing. They don't like to be called Davy. My sister's name is Tiffany. My younger brothers' names are Timmy and Tommy. That's what we call them. My mom's name is Diana."

"That's another thing we have in common. We both have big families. Well yours is bigger though. That's good they prefer to be called David."

Their food came food came. While they were eating they talked some more.

"Besides music, dancing, horses, and reading do you like to do outside of school?"

"I play basketball, run, and practice martial arts. I'm on my schools teams for basketball and track."

I was right Davy thought I don't want to make her mad. She does work our a lot. She stays in great shape.

"Do you lift weights?"

"Only at practice. Dancing also helps. It's great strength training for the legs."

"Seems like you know a lot about this stuff and have a full plate when it comes to school and everything."

"Yeah I do, but I can handle it."

"Is there anything you are interested in?"

"Yeah, I love to read fantasy stories especially ones based on the Arthurian Legends."

"That's groovy. So you like things that are British?"

"Yeah, everything from the literature to the culture is groovy. At least I think so."

Then Davy got the courage to ask, "Would you like to dance?"

"Yeah, but are you crazy? What about our food?"

"It won't be messed with. Don't you see everyone else don't this too?

She nodded.

They danced their first slow dance together, which during they almost kissed each other several times. After the dance they went to finish their meal. Davy paid the check when they were finished. They walked back to her aunt's house.

"I had a great time, Davy," Molly said.

"I'm glad you did. Would you like to go out again?" Davy asked.

"Yeah, I'd like that, but what if you came here for dinner instead of going out somewhere?"

"That's great. I'll come here after practice between four and five, ok."

"That works for me."

When they reached the door they started to say their goodbyes.

"I guess this is good night," Molly said.

"Yeah, good night," Davy said and kissed her on the cheek.

"Good night."

"See you after practice tomorrow."

She walked into the house to find everyone eating dinner.

"Hey," Heather said, "How was the date?"

"It was wonderful," Molly said, "I'll tell you guys about it when you're done."

"Leigh called. She wants you to call her back. I told her what you were doing tonight," Heather said.

She called Leighanne waiting for someone to answer the phone.

"Hello, this is Leighanne. Who is this?"

"Hey Leigh. It's Molly."

"Hey girl. Why didn't you call me to tell me you met a guy an had a date. I thought I was your best friend."

"You are it's just that I'm still taking it all in."

"Tell me everything."

She told Leighanne everything that had happened in the past couple days to now.

"Wow, that's great is her really short?"

"Yes, Leigh. He is, but in order to play The Dodger he would have to be."

"Does it bother you?"

"No."

"What about the future. I mean you're almost as tall as your dad and in the next couple years you could be his height or taller. What are you going to do then especially if he's still shorter than you?"

"It still won't bother me."

"Girl, you have got it bad."

"I know. Well, I got to go. Bye. Call you later."

"Talk to you later."

When she got off the phone, she told everyone else about the date. Then she told them about the date tomorrow.
