Moves

About a week later school started for Molly. When school started everyone wished her a happy birthday. She got her birthday card from Davy. She put it in her locker next to her pictures of Davy. She called and wrote him when she could. She told Davy when Basketball and Track season started. She told him everything that happened during both seasons and before she knew it the school year was over. Once school was over, her dad told everyone they were moving to Indiana, because Molly wanted to move there and he had gotten military orders to be stationed there. They started packing and before then next school year began they were in Indiana. She called Davy and told him about the move and gave him the address to the house in Indiana. She told him that she would give him the phone number when they got there. While they lived there it was easy to keep in touch with the one hour time difference. They only lived in Indiana two months and her dad had orders to move to California.

Her mom and dad went to California to buy a house. While her parents were gone Molly and her siblings were being watched by her Uncle Dan and Aunt Sarah on her dad's side. They came back to pack their belongings when they were done. Once again she called Davy to let him know that she was moving, why, and where. This would make it harder on both of them to keep in touch by phone. Molly knew telling him the family secret would make it easier on the both of them, but she never told him. Molly and her family moved into the new house. The Clines moved as well, because Leighanne's dad was the business partner of Molly's dad. When Davy would be in a teen magazine she would brag and tell everyone that he was her boyfriend. She was envied by the girls in school, because she was dating a cute guy who was an actor and could become really famous one day.

As much as she was happy she was sad at the same time, because she was have nightmares about telling Davy her darkest secret. She didn't have nightmares about it all the time, those that were scared her and kept her from telling Davy. What she was afraid of was that Davy would break up with her, because he would feel that she didn't trust him enough with her secret. It wasn't that she didn't trust him. It was because since at least the fifties the big UFO scare was on everybody's minds. Everyone in the Jackson family was afraid to trust people with the secret. The old adage "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" was true for them. With humans they had come to understand that they fear what they do not understand and that would be them plus with that there is no telling how certain humans may react to that kind of information.

For the next year and a half it would be the same talking on the phone, writing letters, and her having nightmares. The one day in early 1964 Davy told her some good news that he was moving to California. He would be staying with his manager Ward Sylvester.
